AGT ENGINE CONVERSIONS

AGT Engineering is not a drive-in drive-out engine shop, however we can assist in doing high tech conversions, in particular conversions that are unique, provide R&D for our Canbus solutions, and/or too hard for the general conversion shop.

The following articles show some of the conversions we have been involved in over the last few years.

CANBUS MANXTER BUILD (2015 WRX FA20TURBO ENGINE AND 6SPEED GEARBOX)

Completed July 2016

The Canbus Manxter was built from the ground up by AGT Engineering. Using a rusted out VW, a 9month old WRX, and a Meyers Manxter2+2 Dune Buggy kit, the vehicle was built and road registered within 12months. Not bad seeing it was the first conversion of it's kind with a lot of time spent doing R&D (including modifying the 6 speed cableshift Gearbox with SubaruGears). The Canbus Manxter was also used for R&D of the latest generation FA/FB Canbus systems for the AGT Engineering Canbus Emulator Mini and the Subatronics Canbus Emulator.

SUBARU FB25 ENGINE INTO A VW TYPE2 SPLIT WINDOW KOMBI

Completed 2018

The fully restored 1960s VW Kombi was chosen by the customer to get a late model FB25 engine for the extra power, reliability, and creature comforts when compared to the original air cooled engine. The engine conversions was designed to be relatively subtle, so that from the outside, you would never know it had a different engine than standard. The instrument cluster, steering wheel, and multifunction display (incuding review camera screen) where also re-used from the Donor Subaru Forester and integrated into the VW. The entire vehicle wiring was replaces, and one of the Subaru Fusebox's was used within the engine bay. Air conditioning and cruise control functions were also retianed.

GM 6.2L LS3 INTO SUBARU BRZ

Completed April 2019

After being the first company to release a successful Canbus Translator for the LS to BRZ/86/FRS platform and being involved  in a few of the wiring installs, we decided to expand on the translator and build this cool conversion ourselves. We used this vehicle for extensive testing of the "Plug and Play" Canbus translator and designed the engine adapter mounts in 3D CAD which will also be available to purchase with the translator kit. The aim of this build was to make the conversion look and behave as if it was a factory fitted item, or an OEM option.
With nearly 3 times the original engine power, awesome handling, traction control, cruise control, AC and a fully functional instrument cluster, this vehicle is perfect for both track and racing and long cruises on the highway in Summer.
This conversion meets most countries requirement of having all safety and emissions related systems (OBDII compliance) of the vehicle to be retained. This requirement is complimented by an engine placement that allows zero cutting of structural components of the vehicle such as the bonnet and front section, while still being able to retain the stock LS3 Air Conditioning compressor.
There are also zero wiring modification done the the vehicle's original wiring.
